About Me | The Story Behind FBA

My name is Westin Ford, and I am the Founder and Director of Ford Basketball Academy. Throughout my coaching career, I've had the opportunity to work with athletes at the youth, high school, travel, and collegiate levels. Those experiences have shaped my passion for teaching the game and developing players beyond just their basketball skills.

I created Ford Basketball Academy because I wanted to build something different, an organization that puts the player and their development first. Too often, I see programs focused more on winning games, running drills, or building teams than on the individual growth of each athlete. I wanted to create an environment where every player receives intentional coaching, meaningful opportunities to improve, and the attention they deserve throughout their development.

Inspired by the European basketball development model, FBA emphasizes purposeful training, basketball IQ, decision-making, and long-term growth. I believe players should understand not just how to perform a skill, but when, why, and how to apply it within the game.

My goal with FBA is simple: develop better basketball players, build stronger leaders, and create a lasting impact that reaches far beyond the court.
